The July 9th Idea
Lab + Breakfast will be the 3rd gathering of attendees (and friends!) of SPU's Bottom Billions Conference to
discuss conference topics, brainstorm solutions to the most challenging issues
and build connections to accelerate our efforts.
The July 9th Breakfast will feature speaker Laura McLaughlin of Cascade Designs, Inc. (Seattle-based makers of Therm-a-Rest self-inflating mattresses, Platypus flexible hydration systems, SweetWater microfilters, Packtowl camping towels, SealLine dry bags, etc.)
Laura has worked for three years at Cascade Designs,
Inc., focusing on connecting CDI’s product development and
commercialization strengths with drinking water and health needs in the
developing world. In this role, she works with partner organizations to
apply sustainable, market-based models to a new market. She has manages
the Smart Electrochlorinator and Household Filter development efforts at
Cascade. Before coming to CDI, she worked on energy efficiency market
transformation efforts at the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab. Her
background is in environmental engineering, health, and energy
efficiency.

us to hear about CDI's journey and exploration of product development
for the "bottom billions," and to learn from their challenges, triumphs,
